Science and the Bible

Posted on April 13, 2022April 16, 2022 by Kent Welch

“This complete somersault in scientific teaching within the memory of living men admonishes us to waste no time in trying to reconcile the Bible with the human science of today, lest tomorrow, when science changes again, we should be obliged to make another adjustment, and so on ad infinitum.” — B.H. Carroll, An Interpretation of the English Bible Volume One — Genesis

B.H. Carroll wrote this over 100 years ago. It remains true today. “Science” (and I use that term loosely), has become a deadly false god in our times. I do not discourage scientific investigation and discovery. I believe science, properly applied, is the methodical unwrapping of the unimaginably complex universe God brought forth from nothing. But I refuse to place science, which has today become a political weapon rather than an honest search for truth, as my god. I grow weary of hearing people banter their political beliefs (on either side), while bowing down to the false god of science. If I had a nickel for every time Mr. Science has changed his mind, I’d be a wealthy man today. On the contrary, the Word of God remains the same (yesterday, today, and forever) and true from beginning to end.
